Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen,

wie die meisten unter Ihnen wissen, schreiten derzeit die Planungen für den Antrag des NFDI4Memory-Konsortiums für die historisch arbeitenden Geisteswissenschaften im Kontext der Nationalen Forschungsdateninfrastruktur voran.

Die Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI) soll laut DFG „die Datenbestände von Wissenschaft und Forschung systematisch erschließen, nachhaltig sichern und zugänglich machen sowie (inter-)national vernetzen. Sie wird in einem aus der Wissenschaft getriebenen Prozess als vernetzte Struktur eigeninitiativ agierender Konsortien aufgebaut werden“. (https://www.dfg.de/foerderung/programme/nfdi/)

Auch im Namen von Prof. Dr. Johannes Paulmann, dem Sprecher der Konsortialinitiative NFDI4Memory, laden wir Sie daher zu einem Community-Treffen am

März 2020 von 11 bis 17 Uhr

in die Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Friedrich-von-Gärtner-Saal) ein.

Wie Sie der beigefügten Tagesordnung entnehmen können, werden zunächst Professor Paulmann als Sprecher und PD Dr. John C. Wood als Koordinator über Ziele und Planungsstand der Initiative berichten und die Mitantragsteller Einblicke in die einzelnen Arbeitsfelder („Task Areas“) des Antrags geben. Vorrangig sollen aber alle anderen Mitglieder unserer Community historisch arbeitender Geisteswissenschaften die Möglichkeit haben, ihre Bedarfe und Anliegen mit Vertreter*innen des Konsortiums zu diskutieren und über die mögliche Partizipation und Mitgestaltung an 4Memory zu sprechen. Wir würden uns daher sehr über Ihre Teilnahme freuen!

Information -- including a registration form -- is now online for the forthcoming 4Memory "Community-Treffen" in Halle (Saale) on 24 April 2020.

Other meetings will take place on the following dates and in the following cities:

27 March 2020: Munich
30 March 2020: Berlin
21 April 2020: Mainz

Information about registration and contact details for these other meetings will be posted online as soon as possible.

These "Community-Treffen" will:

provide information about 4Memory and the NFDI initiative;
assess the needs and potential contributions of various members of the historically oriented humanities with regard to research data management; and
take initial steps toward building our community, also for the longer-term operation of the 4Memory consortium.

The meetings will be your opportunity to make contact with the representatives of the co-applicant institutions who are coordinating the creation of the 4Memory consortium and to explore ways in which your institutions and projects can contribute to the aims of our consortium.

Save the dates! 4Memory "Community-Treffen" are coming soon

Within the broader NFDI initiative, the 4Memory consortium aims to serve the community of all those working with historical data.

As we move forward toward the submission of our funding application later this year, we are organizing a series of one-day meetings in different parts of Germany.

These "Community-Treffen" will:

provide information about 4Memory and the NFDI initiative;
assess the needs and potential contributions of various members of the historically oriented humanities with regard to research data management; and
take initial steps toward building our community, also for the longer-term operation of the 4Memory consortium.

Details of the meetings are still being planned; however, the Community-Treffen will take place on the following dates in the following cities:

27 March 2020: Munich
30 March 2020: Berlin
21 April 2020: Mainz
22 April 2020: Düsseldorf
24 April 2020: Halle
