Year-end greetings from 4Memory

Dear members of the 4Memory community,

Before the year ends, we wanted to send you a short update on the progress of our initiative to build a consortium within the NFDI for the historically oriented humanities.

At the end of September, after a long process of dialogue and communication with our community, we submitted our extensive and detailed application.

On Friday 11 December, five representatives of 4Memory presented the consortium at an evaluation colloquium organised by the DFG and answered questions posed by the international review panel.

We will receive written feedback in January, which we will answer by the end of February. In March, the expert committee will give its recommendation to the Joint Science Conference (Gemeinsame Wissenschaftskonferenz – GWK), which will reach a final decision on the NFDI funding applications of the current (second) round in June.

We will keep you informed of our progress in 2021 via this website and on Twitter (@NFDI4memory). We also have a mailing list for our community beyond the consortium itself: you can subscribe under https://lists.uni-mainz.de/sympa/subscribe/4memory-mailingliste.

We are grateful to all of those in the 4Memory community – whether co-applicants, participants or partners – for their various contributions to our initiative, especially over the last year.

We wish all of you a happy and restful holiday season and, above all, a healthy 2021!

Sincerely,
Johannes Paulmann (Spokesperson, NFDI4Memory)
John Carter Wood (Academic Coordinator, NFDI4Memory)
